Ideally, the play would probably have a more racially diverse cast. The majority of the scenes took place between white, straight characters, except for a few, one with a married lesbian couple and the young men mentioned earlier. The unique stories of some of the relationships are simply fun and charming and allows viewers to understand romance and love from different points of view. It is likeable to a wide range of folks, which I think is why the students chose it. I think part of Love/Sick’s advantage is that it can appeal to many and the cast can be widely diverse. Since this was Western’s student theatre group, all the actors were college students and most of the audience was as well. Our favorite line was, “I can’t be dazzled”. There’s a piece with a young gay couple confessing their feelings, except that one of them has a stress-related disorder that will effect one of his senses, which leads to him missing the confession multiple times. The beginning of the play opens with two strangers meeting in a supermarket (the Supercenter, which gets mentioned multiple times throughout the play) who both have obsessive impulsive disorder, causing them to leap into each other’s arms and immediately begin kissing each other. While Love/Sick isn’t exactly revolutionary (in fact it might be the opposite), there were people represented in those cliché scenes that I had never encountered before. One New York Times review states that “most of the situations have been mined before in sitcoms and sketch comedies” (Jaworowski). Likewise, other reviews of Love/Sick agree that it’s nothing especially new. I wouldn’t say that Cariani, as a playwright, brings anything especially new or different to the table in terms of diversity. The play is meant to last around 90 minutes, so there is around ten minutes available for each vignette (Urbanski). His play Love/Sick is a comedy broken into nine different vignettes, each a different little blurb about love, relationships, or marriage. Love/Sick was written by John Cariani, a Broadway actor and playwright and the author of the very popular play Almost Maine. Of course, this is a completely fair assumption to make, especially when you picture the work as “lovesick”, the title just seems to evoke every average romance story you might think of. I had no knowledge of what the play was about and upon bringing this up, my friend guessed, “Probably just a love story.” There was absolutely no excitement in her voice, which might be because she’s not a huge romance person, but also because I’m sure she was imagining a “typical” story between a man and woman. More detailed episodes list provided inside table below.During this quarter at Western, I went to the Old Main Theatre and saw a play called Love/Sick that was put on by Western Washington University’s Student Theatre Productions with a few of my friends. Again, just like with your straight jumps, you can practice on either a mat or a low beam, or even a trampoline.Toddler Gymnastics at Home vs Gymnastics Classes for ToddlersĪfraid toddler gymnastics classes will leave you broke? Did you know many of the toddler gymnastics teachers at gyms actually have no (or very little) gymnastics background? Gymnastics classes for toddlers are hard enough to come by, but those that are high quality and affordable are nearly non-existent. Just like in your leap, you want to evenly split your legs, while keeping your legs tight and feet pointed. The same body position you use in a split jump is also the body position that will be utilized in your leaps. You want to practice your split jumps to improve on floor and beam. You can also read how to improve your jumps. This is another great skill you can practice on either a mat or a low beam, or even a trampoline. Make sure you are pushing off of the balls of your feet to get good height and have a tight body position. You need good height and power in your jumps for tumbling skills on beam and floor, jumps on beam and floor, off of the springboard for vault, and on your bars entry. Straight jumps are important skills in all events. To challenge yourself, see how many perfect squat turns you can do in a row without wobbling! Straight Jump You want to practice doing this skill tight without any wobbles. The squat turn is a skill that is introduced in Level 4 and is also in Level 5 Compulsory Beam Routines. This is another great skill you can practice both on a mat or a low beam. Practice squeezing tight and being in high relevé with your pivot turns. If you aren’t tight or bobble in your pivot turn while competing, you will get deductions. You want to be completely tight, with no bobbles during your pivot turn. This is another easy skill you can work on at home. You can also check out this video to improve your turns! Pivot TurnĪ pivot turn is used in most beam routines, and even some floor routines. Make sure you push through the ball of your foot to get into a high relevé in your turn, whether you’re doing a 1/2 turn or a full turn. You can work on 1/2 turns in preparation for full turns if you’re starting out. Kick & flexibility drills will help with improving your leaps on both floor and beam. You also want to try to split your legs as wide as you can while keeping your feet pointed. They are used in most floor and beam routines. When you practice, you want to try to get good height off of the ground and push through your legs. Leaps are another one of the most important skills to perfect in gymnastics. You can practice them on the floor, using a mat, or a low beam. They help strengthen your skills while you’re doing relevé drills as well. Scales are great for working on your balance. There are many different types of scales – front scales, back scales, side scales, etc. Only one foot is off of the ground in a scale. Scales are another great skill to practice at home. You can also check out our review of a great home sectional beam! Your goal here is to have straight legs and pointed feet. Once you’re a pro at doing cartwheels on a line, challenge yourself more by practicing them on a low beam. Another great way to practice cartwheels is by grading them – if you can do a good cartwheel already, try practicing it on a straight line (you can use duck tape, lines on your floors, etc). Again, you can use a mat, but it’s not necessary. Shoulder flexibility is important in many gymnastics skills–it’s especially important if you are trying to learn a backhandspring! CartwheelĬartwheels can also be easily practiced anywhere. You want to push through your shoulders to make sure you get a nice shoulder stretch. It’s great if you have a mat to practice on, however it’s not really something that’s necessary to practice this skill. The bridge is another great skill that is easily able to be practiced at home. You can also try this 5 minute handstand workout! Bridge In our Skilltrakker program, our handstand challenges are always the most popular – is there such a thing as practicing handstands too much?! We don’t think so! The goal is to have a nice, tight body position in your handstand. It’s also what we feel is the #1 most important gymnastics skill to learn/improve because it is used in every event in gymnastics. The handstand is one of the best gymnastics skills you can practice just about anywhere. These are perfect for both beginners and more advanced gymnasts, because the skills are used throughout the levels. Whether you’re just starting out in gymnastics, or you’ve been competing for years you’ll still want to check out these beginner gymnastics skills you can practice at home. If you are not using a Mac, you can also refer to another tutorial "Use shortcuts to check iPhone battery cycle times, capacity, and life health" to check battery health directly on your phone.Ĭlick " Download " from coconutBattery's official website to download the application for free, unzip it after downloading, drag coconutBattery to the application folder, execute and you will see the main screen.īy default, information about this Mac will be displayed, but in fact it is mainly concentrated in the battery section, and you will also see information such as production date, number of cycles, battery health status, battery temperature, and whether it is connected to a power source. However, on mobile phones or computers It is difficult to see the exact information of the battery, coconutBattery can display more and more complete information. Therefore, if the battery health is too poor, it will not only feel out of power soon after use, but also the mobile phone will freeze. Sometimes the iPhone may lower the frequency to maintain more available power. In addition to reducing the rechargeable capacity of the battery, it feels that the power drops very quickly when using it. We all know that the battery will gradually decline with the time of use, which will also be different due to the user's usage habits, environment and frequency of use. This article will introduce "coconutBattery" is an application used to read Mac, iPhone and iPad battery information, because the built-in battery health will only tell you the percentage, whether you need to replace the battery, you can read more details through coconutBattery, including the service life of the device and the battery, the charging frequency of the battery, the health of the battery, and more importantly, the number of battery cycles of the device can be queried. Although it is more than the self-pay price after the warranty, few people should be able to use the battery health to the state of free replacement within the warranty (unless There is a problem with the battery itself), especially the price of the original iPhone battery will increase by 800 yuan at a time. After March this year, Apple will increase the battery replacement price for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Now deactivate any settings you don’t like - such as “DxO Smart Lighting” in your example – You will now have all the “killer features” applied by default. Open an image (any image, it doesn’t matter which one) - and apply the “DxO Standard” preset See here for a more detailed explanation of what I mean by that.Ī better approach is to create your own default preset - so that you DO include the most important corrections ( especially the “killer features” provided by PhotoLab) - whilst also excluding those you don’t like (because of your own creative preferences). However, turning off the default presets altogether/entirely is like (the English expression) “ throwing the baby out with the bath water”. I agree, Guenter - I don’t like some of the “DxO Standard” settings either. I do not work with video so no help on Final Cut Pro.My setting is “No Correction” because I have noticed that some settings in the “DXO Standard” make adjustments I don’t like. Photoshop seems faster for many things but I have not done "heavy" editing with it on the M2Pro yet. Overall system (Mac OS) speed (Finder) is not much different. Other tasks, like working in LR "Library" are probably a bit faster but not (so far) by that much. I set up this new computer as a new machine (i.e did not "port over" applications and settings from a previous Mac) so I also had to spend a bit of time resetting all the Apple defaults I am not fond of. Also seemingly randomly, Apple would install the AirPrint version of the Epson driver without giving a choice - just had to uninstall and reinstall until the correct one was in place. "System Preferences" are now "System Settings" and are organized more like on an iPad/iPhone.) The print dialog box is quite different and took a while to get set up (had been fine with Monterey) the biggest issue being that settings would not "stick" once set (workaround so far was to save settings as a "custom" preset setting (not a job preset setting which acted as the default choice). Had Monterey working well but there is a bit of a learning curve to Ventura (i.e. Less happy with having to use Ventura as the OS. I suspect there can be differences in processing times based on the image/raw file content but so far pretty happy with the improvement. In the few times I have had a chance to use it on the M2Pro the times were in seconds for DeepPrimeXD. When using it on the 2018 Mini would get conversions in the minutes range, times like 14 minutes would pop up on the screen but It may have been a bit less actual time. Also just started to use PureRaw DeepPrimeXD. Just setting up a M2Pro Mini (12‑core CPU, 19-core GPU, 32 GB RAM). What is your experience with performance? I know that FCP put all stuff on the temporary space of the internal disk if RAM is not enough. That would mean if you have opened some of Adobe Apps with fix assigned RAM then there is only the rest of RAM for other apps. I know, that for Adobe you can assign an amount of RAM, but obviously not for PureRaw. I will get it in two weeks and can make some tests. If you want to know more about Mini M2 Pro performance then let me know. If somebody is using FCP (Final Cut Pro) then please, write about your setup and performance. If somebody is using M2 please, write what application you are using and if performance increased. It would be interesting to know about your setups and their performance. I decided for Mini because Studio is very expensive and big and sometimes I need to take it with me to other locations. The question is if anybody is using a Mini with similar configuration? :Īpple M2 Pro with 10‑Core CPU, 16‑Core GPU, 16‑Core Neural Engine, 32 GB RAM. Ok, that was aactually not a question but facts. I let it on the auto, and that perhaps was a problem. There is an option in settings of DXO to use CPUs, a graphic processor or to choose it automatically. So, the PureRawXD increased the time dramatically on my Macs. When I used just DeepPrime of PureRaw 2 it took about 5-6min pro file on my Macs. On Huawei i7, 16GB Windows computer (ProBook from 2021) of my friend it took 4min (the same file, of course) On MacMini it takes about 30min for a file (I let running many files during the night and calculated the duration) I used the new PureRaw DeepPrime XD and it took 45min on MacAir to process a one Z9 (45MP) file with ISO 18000 with all optical corrections to DNG-file. MacAir has i5 and 16GB RAM, MacMini - i7 with 16GB RAM, pretty the same but Mini is a bit faster. I am using PureRaw a long time and recently installed PureRaw 3 on my MacAir notebook (from 2018) and MacMini (from 2014). You can see a tiny bit of it in my video review. I got Destiny 2 running through Stadia on the bridge. fortnite will not be updated for the Steam Deck last month, even though Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) system claims that game developers can activate it with “a few clicks”.Īnd although there is a hint that EA’s rival Apex Legends could come on deck, and Ring of Elden works on Deck (including online modes) despite the general use of anti-cheat, it’s also true that many other top multiplayer games have yet to arrive.īungie and Valve did not immediately respond to requests for comment. To be fair, Bungie isn’t alone in rejecting the Steam Deck without necessarily providing a satisfying explanation – Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney told me why. An anonymous reader quotes a report from Ars Technica: Mykhailo Fedorov, the vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation of Ukraine, has publicly called on 'all game development companies' to 'temporarily block all Russian and Belorussian accounts' in response to Russias ongoing inva. Now it seems the answer is “we only work on Windows”. But the last communication we received from Bungie about Steam Deck and Proton was on October 3 and contained no response. I was looking forward to playing like this. We’ve been asking Bungie for five months if they could support the Steam Deck and Linux more generally, which seemed like a reasonable request for several reasons: The image, for posterity Inasmuch as Screenshot by Sean Hollister/The Verge Players who attempt to circumvent Destiny 2 incompatibility will be banned from the game. Players attempting to launch Destiny 2 on the Steam Deck via SteamOS or Proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short period of time. The help page has a new section called “Steam Deck and Destiny 2”, which reads as follows:ĭestiny 2 is not supported for play on Steam Deck or any system using Proton from Steam Play unless Windows is installed and running. When will Bungie let Destiny 2 coming to Valve’s Steam Deck portable gaming PC? It seems the answer will never be – as Sony’s future subsidiary has posted a help page which not only says the game is not supported, but also threatens to ban potential Steam Deck players (via Wario64). |
